The reading garden is a new concept to the country. The concept is introduced as a catalyst to promote the use of material at the National Library which is the largest reference library in Sri Lanka. The project is an infill to the existing building with state-of-the-art facilities for young readers while the surrounding outside area is landscaped with seating to encourage a day-to-day passer by to linger and engage in light reading such as newspapers, and magazines.
